ASA PODCAST LXXVIII: Catching up on SSAC

Harrison and Sean take on guests as our Nerd League Soccer friend, Justin and ASA writer Kareem Williams join us this week.

Kareem runs us back through his Sloan Sports Analytics Conference experience. He gets to do some name dropping of his own with the pre-party and gives props to Soccermetrics' Howard Hamilton. He also provides some perspective on the soccer panel.

After that round-up is complete Justin, Sean and Harrison dive into week two results and gap about oddities of DC United, disappointments with the Sounders shot generation and of course we hate on San Jose.

ASA PODCAST LXXVII: Recollections of a wild Week One

Harrison and Sean take a haphazard approach to recalling key moments through the first week of MLS games. They wander through the shot ratio disaster of Colorado, talk initial results of the Nerd League with a few winners and one specific loser then engage on a few other casual observances of Sunday. The podcast finishes with a discussion on Audi and their new "awesome" revamped version of the castrol index (spoiler alert: we don't think it's awesome).

ASA Podcast LXXVI: MLS Season Preview!

Drew, Sean, and Kevin get the old band back together to get hiphy about the upcoming MLS season. They go through every team in each conference from bottom up, and give their thoughts on the campaign ahead. There are no references to stupid Harry Potter.

ASA Podcast LXXV: Harry Potter and The Risk Matrix

Once again Sean and Harrison join forces to discuss things that are some what relevant to US Soccer, MLS and nerds. Harrison talked about his game plan for reading the Harry Potter series to his son and that led to dealing with player loss and attachment in a business driven world.

Getting to the matters at hand, Sean and I broke down Darren Mattocks impending transfer to...  somewhere not in Vancouver and utilized a Risk Matrix to discuss whether he'd be a smart buy for anyone else in MLS.

We kind of ranted on CONCACAF Champions League touching the four clubs (RSL, DC United, LA Galaxy and the Sounders) and their (unlikely) possibilities for getting to the next round.

Lastly, we talked a bit about Tim Howard and though it's not official we talked as though it was mentioning some fun keeper stats that are sure to make our friend Bill Reno green with envy.

By Harrison Crow (@harrison_crow)

We get back together and discuss... well, all sorts of things. Mostly people that we know that we hang out with or are doing pretty cool things.

I give a shout out to Dave Clark for attention.

We mention our very best Canadian Brenton Walters.

Then we just have name vomit as we talk about Michael Caley's super cool piece, Danny Page and Alex Olashanky....and Jared Young and our site's very best editor of all-time Drew Olsen.
