ASA Podcast XLVI: The One Where We Talk World Cup 30-Man Roster

Hey, we're back... just like that we have two podcasts (not one, but two!) in less than seven days. This one is a special edition, as Jurgen Klinsmann announced his USMNT 30-man preliminary roster for the World Cup yesterday. In response, Matt Hartley and I decided to record a podcast. The result is brilliant, and you should listen. ASA Podcast: Episode XLV

Well, after a bit of a hiatus the podcast is back. I sit down with Jacob, aka @MLSAthiest, and we have a conversation about an assortment of (mostly) MLS-related topics. A slight note on the podcast itself, I tweaked the format and presentation ever so slightly, and I would love a bit of feed back on it--good or bad. I hope you enjoy it! ASA Podcast XLIV: The One Where We Talk About What We Write About

Harrison and Matty discuss their two most recent articles, respectively about Harrison's Shots Created per 90 statistic and Matty's obsessive need to put RSL down because its players are more gooder at soccer than he is. It's a short one, perfect for your commute![mixcloud http://www.mixcloud.com/hkcrow/asa-podcast-xliv-the-one-where-we-talk-about-what-we-write/ width=660 height=180 /]

ASA Podcast XLIII: The one where Matty Makes the Call

Hey everyone, here is our latest terrible exhilarating podcast for your listening pleasure. The delay this week in posting was largely due to us switching to 'Mixcloud' for the conceivable hosting future as we move way from our current site and into a domain of our own. Admittedly, we ate up a good 15 minutes in the start of the podcast talking about the Seattle-Portland match, but you saw that coming...right? The rest of the podcast is also solid, and perhaps more importantly, less Cascadia-specific, so don't give up on it just because of that segment! ASA Podcast XLII: Expected Goals 2.0

I apologize for putting this up so late. I intended it to be up yesterday, and things just happened this way. The audio quality for my mic the first half was not good, but that was fine because Matty filled us in about Expected Goals 2.0 or something like that. Then, Drew and I do a rundown of Week Three's games, packed with some of our typical witty commentary. We hope you enjoy it!

ASA Podcast: XLI An MLS Week 2 Review

Okay, here is a podcast. This is our weekly podcast that is just simply a podcast. A podcast that stars myself and Drew. A Podcast that I edited to make sound not bad and some what interesting. I encourage you to listen to it. Drew makes lots of good points, I make some too. [audio http://americansocceranalysis.files.wordpress.com/2014/03/asa-podcast-xli-the-do-over.mp3]

ASA Podcast XXXIX: The Band is Back Together!

For the first time in ages Drew, Matthias, and Harrison are reunited. They start by covering this weekend's MLS action with a special focus on expected goals, talk some CONCACAF Champions League, and finish up with a discussion of +/- ratios for individual soccer players. ASA Podcast: XXXVIII on Turkish Geography, #WTFc, and Uses of Data

This week Matthias and Drew do a quick pod covering the announced 23-man roster for the USMNT's game vs. Ukraine in Cypress, discussing TFC and the trade of Matias Laba to Vancouver, and closing with a discussion of how data analysis can be used in different contexts. ASA Podcast: XXXVII The One Where We Talk ExpG

Don't get too excited about the title. We really don't go into this nearly as much as we probably should have. We draw a lot of our thoughts from the 11tegen11 article that sets the table nicely for the discussion, and we just kind of build around that. The audio for the first portion is a little maddening. We had a few problems, but everything was cleared up after about the first 20 minutes, so don't be deterred from finishing this one. There are some good points made by Drew and me, if I may say so, which make it well worth a listen.

ASA Podcast XXXVI: The Ghost of the Opta Pro Forum

A couple weeks ago the Opta Pro Forum took place and this week we take a look at some of the different studies that came as a result and some key thoughts that we pulled out of them. Covering such a wide range of topics we invited site friend Chris Gluck to talk with us about some of these various subjects. It was a lot of fun and I think we covered some interesting topics. During the podcast we also mention the movement of Hendry Thomas, who goes from Colorado to Dallas and the current status of Matias Laba with Toronto FC and his impending move away from the club. Enjoy!
